The HNC in Sport & Exercise Science (Coaching Science) is designed to equip you with the practical skills, knowledge, and work-related competencies needed to operate effectively within the sport and active leisure industry. The programme focuses on developing your coaching expertise with an emphasis on participation, inclusion, and engagement, while helping you drive innovation and quality in your personal practice and within organisations.

You will gain a blend of theoretical understanding and hands-on experience, including enhanced work placements that reflect the dynamic and rapidly evolving nature of sport and physical activity. The course emphasises practical coaching and education skills, alongside strategies to support participation rather than solely performance-focused outcomes.

This programme addresses a niche in the industry, providing a vocational alternative to sports science degrees that often focus mainly on theory. You will be well-prepared for roles that require delivering inclusive, engaging, and sustainable sports and physical activity programmes within a variety of community and organisational settings.

Teaching Methods: The course is delivered on campus and requires students to attend two full days per week. Additional days are required industry placements and experience. Delivery of the course is through a range of methods including lectures, seminars, case-study, discussions, and workshops.

Assessment Methods: A variety of assessment methods are used which include written reports, written assignments, literature reviews, group presentations, and the compilation of a learning journal.

🌍 International Applicants: The college does not accept international applications for this course.
