University Centre
Our University and Professional Development Centre (UPDC) is located in the heart of Bury St Edmunds on Suffolk. It is a vibrant and welcoming place where life-long friendships are formed, and life-changing experiences are created. This campus is where you can find University Studies at West Suffolk College (USWSC) and our Personal and Professional Development Centre for adult learning.
Some of our Degrees or Higher National courses may require our students to be based at our West Suffolk Sixth Form College (WSC) campus. Only a short walk away from the UPDC, it’s the ideal location – allowing our students to have use of the main campus library resources, support services, and more while enjoying some of the fabulous facilities at the WSC campus.
University Studies at West Suffolk College
Our campus is smaller than most universities across the East, but that’s what makes us unique and able to offer our students a more relaxed and intimate learning environment; a place where you feel supported and treated as the unique individual that you are. This also means that no matter where you are in your learning journey – a college or sixth form leaver or returning to education as an adult – we can guide and support you to achieve your personal goals and career aspirations.
We provide our students with University of East Anglia accredited degrees and Pearson validated Higher National courses, allowing you to gain nationally recognised qualifications, without the need to move away from home. With our condensed timetabling, your classes are as closely scheduled as possible, making it easier for you to maintain a study to life balance – placing our students at the heart of everything we do. Our facilities include:
Extended Reality (XR) Lab
We’re constantly developing our cutting-edge facilities, the latest addition being our Extended Reality (XR) Lab which brings together a whole suite of the very latest XR technologies. The XR Lab provides an environment where extended reality technology is more accessible to all, and it equips our students with highly sought-after skills.
Our aim is for all students to experience extended reality as part of their learning, ensuring our students are at the forefront of this emerging area, preparing them for growing business needs in line with predicated growth of XR technology across all industry sectors.
Study Spaces
At University Studies at West Suffolk College, we’ve made combining and socialising easy with our large, open-plan library and chill zone in the main hangar. Here you can find comfy sofas and tables, offering you a place to hang out with your friends, study, or both! Here, you will also find dedicated ‘quiet zones’ where you can get a bit more privacy and focus on your work.
For those students based at our West Suffolk College campus searching for a study or social space, there are many areas throughout all of the buildings. During warmer months, the quad outside offers a great place to soak in the sun and focus on your studies.
