HAAS Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering

Get hands-on with advanced engineering

The HAAS Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering is a specialist engineering facility based inside our University & Professional Development Centre in Bury St Edmunds.

Created with a £550,000 investment from the Gene Haas Foundation, it is the first and only Gene Haas Centre in the East of England. The Centre gives you access to HAAS CNC machinery, computer-operated manufacturing equipment and simulation technology, helping you develop the practical skills and experience needed for modern engineering careers.

At the HAAS Centre, you’ll work with equipment used in advanced manufacturing and develop practical experience alongside your studies.

Facilities include:

  • HAAS CNC machinery
  • CNC simulation technology
  • Computer-operated manufacturing equipment
  • Specialist engineering workshop facilities
  • Technology for practical manufacturing and machining

You’ll learn how to use these technologies safely and effectively, applying your knowledge to practical engineering tasks and projects.

The HAAS Centre is also helping address the growing demand for skilled engineers across Suffolk and the wider East of England.

By bringing specialist facilities and higher-level engineering education together in Bury St Edmunds, we’re helping more people develop the skills local businesses need – while giving employers a stronger pipeline of future engineering talent.

The Centre is expected to support around 150 additional learners each year, helping to grow the region’s engineering and advanced manufacturing workforce.

You don’t have to move away to access specialist engineering facilities.

The HAAS Centre is part of our University & Professional Development Centre in Bury St Edmunds, alongside our higher education and adult learning provision.
