Course overview
The BSc (Hons) Psychology degree offers a thorough introduction to the scientific study of mind and behaviour. You will gain a strong grounding in core areas of psychology and develop the skills needed to understand, evaluate and conduct research. Throughout the course you will explore how psychological theories are applied in real world contexts, from mental health and education to social and organisational settings.
Alongside subject knowledge you will build a wide range of transferable academic and personal skills that are valued by employers. These include critical thinking, data analysis, time management, teamwork and the confidence to communicate your ideas through written work and presentations.
You will study in our modern University and Professional Development Centre in Bury St Edmunds, part of West Suffolk College and Eastern Education Group.

What you’ll study
Your first year introduces the core concepts, perspectives and skills that form the foundation of psychological study. You will develop essential academic abilities and begin to explore how psychology helps us understand human behaviour. Modules include:

In your second year you will deepen your theoretical knowledge and apply psychological ideas to a range of real-world contexts. You will also strengthen your research skills as you explore key areas of biological, cognitive, social and developmental psychology. Modules include:

- Biological and Cognitive Psychology
- Educational Psychology
- Positive Psychology
Your final year allows you to specialise in themes that interest you most and to engage with more advanced psychological topics. You will also carry out your dissertation, giving you the opportunity to complete an independent piece of research. Modules include:
