Turn your curiosity into a career

Our Social Sciences courses open the door to exploring human behaviour, crime, and society from every angle. Whether your passion lies in psychology, criminology, or sociology, you’ll tackle real-world questions, learn from experienced academics, and develop skills that employers value.

With opportunities for research projects, guest lectures, and community engagement, you’ll graduate ready to make a difference in the world around you.

This course will introduce students to the key principles, ideas, and techniques of psychology.

Students gain a strong grounding in key areas such as cognitive, social, developmental, and biological psychology, while developing skills in research, data analysis, and critical thinking. With opportunities to apply knowledge through practical projects and independent research, the course prepares graduates for diverse career paths in psychology, health, education, business, and beyond, or for further postgraduate training.

Together we will explore ideas of criminality, deviance, and psychopathology; cover different aspects of psychology such as biological, cognitive, developmental and social psychology; and consider the social impact of deviance in youth.

The course delves into social aspects of criminology and psychology and takes you and journey through key texts and thinkers on human behaviour, including deviant behaviour and attitudes towards deviance over time.

Get to grips with the fascinating relationship between social behaviour and crime. You’ll get to focus on the social aspects of criminology, taking an in-depth look at human behaviour, deviant behaviour and complex attitudes towards deviance over time. You will cover a range of themes from criminology including victimology, cybercrime, terrorism and extremism, sex crimes and the role of the media in portraying crime, terrorism and deviance in order to give you a deep critical understanding of how and why things go wrong in our world.

This course is designed for adults who wish to progress to university-level study in social science disciplines, including sociology, psychology, politics, criminology, and social policy. It provides a strong foundation in research methods, critical thinking, and academic skills, alongside an understanding of social structures and human behaviour. Through practical projects and independent study, learners develop the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to succeed in higher education and pursue careers in social research, policy, or related fields.
