BA (Hons) Commercial Music Production
Dreaming of making your mark in the music industry? Whether you aspire to be a producer, artist, studio engineer or composer, our BA (Hons) Commercial Music Production degree offers everything you need.
Throughout this course, you’ll dive deep into the core elements of studio production, learning to use professional equipment effectively while leading creative sessions with bands and artists. Music producers are invaluable within the music industry, whether that is through supporting artists and musicians to achieve their artistic potential or producing and releasing music independently.
Access to Higher Education Creative Industries
This course is designed for adults who aspire to study music or related creative disciplines at university. It provides a strong foundation in music theory, composition, performance, and the wider creative industries, while also developing essential academic and study skills for higher education. Through practical projects and critical exploration of music in context, learners gain the confidence, knowledge, and experience needed to progress to degree-level study and careers in the music and creative sectors.

MUSIC PRODUCER
Salary: £25,000-£85,000+
Oversee the creative and technical process of recording, arranging, and mixing music. They work closely with artists, musicians, and sound engineers to shape the overall sound, ensuring that artistic vision and professional quality come together. The role blends creativity with technical expertise, covering everything from songwriting support to studio production and final mastering.

RECORDING ENGINEER
Salary: £20,000-£60,000+
Responsible for capturing and shaping sound during music, film, or broadcast productions. They set up and operate recording equipment, manage audio levels, and ensure the highest sound quality throughout sessions. Working closely with artists, producers, and other technicians, recording engineers combine technical expertise with creative problem-solving to deliver polished, professional audio.

COMPOSTER/SONGWRITER
Salary: £14,000-£40,000+
Create original music and lyrics for a wide range of purposes, from popular songs to film, television, theatre, and advertising. They develop melodies, harmonies, and lyrics that convey emotion and meaning, often collaborating with performers, producers, and other creatives. The role blends artistic expression with technical skill, turning musical ideas into finished works for recording, performance, or media production.
