Sarah Aver, 22, from Isleham in Cambridgeshire, is currently completing her general engineering studies and is about to begin a degree in mechatronic engineering.
“I’ve achieved distinctions across the board, and now I’m preparing to start my degree at University Studies at West Suffolk College. My employer, UTM Ltd in Mildenhall, is supporting me through the process and funding my studies.
“I’ve already completed a Level 3 qualification and an HNC through my work, so I’m progressing on from my apprenticeship into a degree.”
Speaking about her experience at University Studies at West Suffolk College, she said: “It’s been great meeting new people, and our discussions allow us to share different viewpoints. I’d recommend the course to anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge of engineering.”
Reflecting on being selected for the Outstanding Higher National Academic Achievement of the Year Award for the Class of 2026, Sarah added: “It feels really encouraging to know that I can achieve something like this at university. I’m looking forward to attending the awards ceremony with my parents, and I feel proud.”
