Whether you are starting your journey in education or looking to progress your career, our University Centre offers a range of flexible, career-focused Early Years and Education courses for adults and college leavers aged 18+. 

Based in Bury St Edmunds, our programmes blend academic study with practical experience, giving you the knowledge, skills, and qualifications needed to inspire and support the next generation. 

This is an exciting multi-disciplinary programme designed for those who wish to pursue a career working with children and/or their families.

You will study a range of different subjects throughout the programme such as; child development theory, sociological aspects of childhood, children’s health and wellbeing, safeguarding, early years education, play, research methods, effective leadership in the early years, working with children and families, childhoods across the globe and the digital age amongst other subjects.

This apprenticeship is designed for professionals aiming to develop the skills and knowledge required to manage and lead services for children, young people, and families. The programme combines practical workplace learning with formal study, covering areas such as leadership, safeguarding, service management, and working with multi-agency teams.

The Access to Higher Education Diploma in Education is designed for adults who wish to progress to university to study teaching, education, or related fields. The course develops academic skills, study techniques, and subject knowledge, preparing students for the demands of higher education.

You will explore topics such as child development, learning theories, teaching strategies, and educational policies, while also building essential skills in research, critical thinking, and communication.

EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER 

Salary: £10,000-£40,000+

Supports the learning, development, and care of young children, typically from birth to five years old. They create safe, stimulating, and nurturing environments where children can explore, play, and grow. Practitioners work closely with families and colleagues to promote each child’s physical, emotional, social, and educational development.

PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER 

Salary: £10,000-£40,000+

Educates children aged 4 to 11, helping them develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for future learning and life. They plan and deliver lessons across a broad curriculum, including subjects such as English, maths, science, and the arts, while supporting children’s personal, social, and emotional development.

FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER 

Salary: £10,000-£40,000+

Helps children, young people, and their families through challenging times by providing guidance, practical help, and emotional support. They work to improve family wellbeing, strengthen relationships, and ensure children are safe and supported.
