The BA (Hons) English and History gives you the opportunity to explore two complementary disciplines, combining literary analysis with historical understanding. You will examine literature from a wide range of periods and cultural contexts, from classical tragedy to contemporary fiction, while developing your critical thinking, communication, and creative skills.
Alongside this, the History component provides a framework for understanding social, political, and cultural developments across time and place. You will explore historical processes, methods, and interpretations, gaining the skills to analyse and contextualise events and ideas.
By studying these subjects together, you will develop a broad and adaptable skill set, combining research, analysis, and writing abilities with an awareness of context and critical perspective.
