A Degree Apprenticeship offers a powerful route to achieving a full university degree while building advanced skills directly within a professional role.
You’ll combine academic study with practical learning in the workplace, applying new knowledge as you develop your career. There are no tuition fees to pay, as your training is fully funded through the Apprenticeship programme, and you graduate with both a respected qualification and meaningful industry experience.

Our degree apprenticeships
Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship
This programme is designed for aspiring and existing managers who want to develop strong leadership, strategic thinking, and operational management skills. You’ll apply what you learn directly in your workplace while building the knowledge and behaviours required to succeed as a professional manager.
Engineering Degree Apprenticeships
These programmes are ideal for those looking to build a career in engineering while gaining hands-on experience in industry. You’ll develop advanced technical knowledge alongside practical problem-solving skills, preparing you for a wide range of engineering roles.
Early Years and Teaching
These programmes are ideal for those looking to get into early years and teaching roles.
Operations Manager
An operations/departmental manager is someone who manages teams and/or projects, and achieving operational or departmental goals and objectives, as part of the delivery of the organisation’s strategy.
How degree apprenticeships work
As a degree apprentice, you’ll:
- Be employed in a relevant job role
- Study towards a full honours degree
- Spend part of your working week on off-the-job learning (this may include university study, online learning, projects, or workplace training)
- Receive tailored academic and pastoral support throughout your programme
Your learning is structured around your role, meaning what you study directly supports your professional development.

Our team can help you:
- Perfect your application and CV
- Prepare for interviews
- Check that your Maths and English skills meet the requirements
You’ll then attend an interview with the employer and, if successful, be offered the role. Your employer will work with the West Suffolk College team to set up your apprenticeship programme.
Before you start, you’ll complete some initial assessments to help us understand your starting point. These may include skills scans, Maths and English assessments, neurodiversity support checks, and in some cases a course interview. These assessments are designed to ensure we provide the best possible support throughout your apprenticeship.
Once your programme length and starting point are confirmed, your protected off-the-job learning time will be agreed and your training plan finalised. We’ll also work with your employer behind the scenes to secure the funding for your programme.
After completing your enrolment paperwork, it’s time to meet the team and start your training. Congratulations!

We’ll work closely with you and your employer to ensure you are enrolled on the right programme for your role and future progression.
As with all apprenticeships, you’ll complete initial assessments to establish your starting point. These help us tailor the support you receive and may include skills scans, Maths and English, neurodiversity support, and a course interview where required.
Once everything is agreed, your off-the-job learning time and training plan will be confirmed, funding will be secured, and your enrolment completed.
You’ll then meet your Programme Team and begin your degree apprenticeship journey. Congratulations!
