The HND Animal Management course provides a strong progression route from Level 3 Animal Management qualifications, supporting you to develop higher-level knowledge and practical skills for careers in the animal management sector. Designed in line with industry needs, the course prepares you to adapt and progress in a constantly changing professional environment. 

You will study a broad range of topics covering animal health, behaviour and welfare, alongside practical animal husbandry and an understanding of how animals interact with people and society. As the course progresses, you will explore more specialist areas and develop research skills that allow you to investigate real-world issues within animal management. 

With a balance of theory, practical learning and independent study, this course equips you with the confidence, skills and professional awareness needed for employment in animal care, welfare and rehabilitation, or progression to further higher education. 

Staff Experience: Lecturing staff have qualifications in, at undergraduate and post graduate level. The team have a wealth of experience in industry, research and higher education. 

Teaching Methods: The course is delivered on campus/online and requires students to attend a two full days per week. Delivery of the course is through a range of methods including lectures, seminars, case-study, discussions, and practical workshops. 

Assessment Methods: Projects, Report, Portfolio, Review, Reflection, Action Research.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

English language requirements: IELTS (Academic) Grade 6 IELTS 6.0 overall (minimum 5.5 in all components).

FEES AND FUNDING
  • You may need to apply for an enhanced DBS (Approx £44) depending on whether you are currently on the update service. For practical sessions, you will need to purchase a veterinary style tunic and alternative footwear, preferably steel toe capped boots. The veterinary tunics are purchased via Salon Wear Direct: • Veterinary Ladies Tunic £29.94 • Veterinary Male Tunic £31.20 Prices include VAT and delivery and may be subject to change. Steel toe capped boots can be purchased from any relevant high street shop or online and are approximately £20. There is also the option of a hoodie, though this is not required • Veterinary Ladies Tunic and Hoodie £56.32 • Veterinary Male Tunic and Hoodie £57.58 Where certain modules are taken, students are advised to purchase a set of headphones/laptop for hybrid teaching sessions. Other costs may include books if you wish to have your own copies averaging around £100 – £200 per year as well as visits to exhibitions/events; paper-based materials; and printing (although most work is submitted electronically).
COURSE FACTSHEET

*The College offers a discount to students who have studied a full-time qualification within the Eastern Education Group in the past three years. Fixed discounts of £1,000 on the first year of a degree course and £500 for first year of a HNC, HTQ or HND course. Students are only allowed to benefit from one discount within any three-year period. Higher or degree apprenticeships are not eligible for this award. The College reserves the right to remove this offer at any time. Other terms and conditions are not affected by this offer.
